I have been a Squash Referee since passing my theory exam and my practical assessments in 2002. Since then I have gradually increased my interest in refereeing, then was identified in 2005 as a candidate to be a Marker at the 2006 Commonwealth Games in Melbourne and was invited to become part of the training squad for the Games. After several tournaments and assessments, I gained my Doubles accreditation and was invited to be a Technical Official.
During the lead-up events for the 2006 Commonwealth Games, I started to be assessed for National level at the National Junior Series and Australian Junior Championships, which has long been a training ground for up-and-coming referees in Australia. This continued over the next several years when I was privileged to be selected to represent my State (ACT) as a referee, travelling to all other States and Territories - excluding, unfortunately, Tasmania - for both Junior and Senior events.
With the appointment of the Australian Open in Canberra in 2010, which was registered as a Platinum World Series event, I was introduced to both Ian Allanach who was the WSF appointed assessors. Ian gave both excellent feedback and also
